what to expect at your singing lesson
Lessons are catered to each individuals needs. Goals are discussed at the beginning of each term and students are guided and encouraged toward achieving them. Kara’s main aim is to make sure students feel safe to express themselves through song. Once this trust is built students are encouraged to take positive risks and challenge themselves.
Students can expect to work on the following areas in their lessons:

Repertoire (help to expand their own personal library of songs)

Tips and tricks to help with nerves for performances and/or auditions

Creating a Supportive Learning Environment
We believe in creating a safe and supportive learning space. We do this by giving students the knowledge and tools to grow and learn in an encouraging and caring way. This allows them to grow equally in skill and confidence.
Parents are welcome to stay if the student would like. Other siblings are also welcome as long as they are supervised by a parent. However, any distractions that hinder student learning are discouraged and usually in order for students to feel safe to express themselves and take positive risks, the less people in the room during lessons the better.
Parents are encouraged to come and have a listen towards the end of the lesson so that the student has an opportunity to perform. This allows time for exploration of the voice one-on-one with Kara, as well as an opportunity to practice performing.
Term Lessons
At Willow Studios we highly recommend regular weekly lessons.
In our experience, students who have consistent tuition will make better progress in the following areas:

Students who commit to a full term receive a discount and have a regular lesson time saved for them each week.
Casual lessons
Perfect for that last minute audition, or for students who would like to come and go as they like. Students are able to book casual lessons up to a week in advance.

Please note: Students who come for last minute audition preparation are advised to book for at least an hour lesson.
